Personal background

Well everyone has an idea, what life is really all about. So here is mine.

Whenever I'm not sure, how to decide about a something new, I try to go back one step and see the larger picture. This often enough helped me to see what I need and want others need. It's not too difficult, you only need to be honest to yourself.

This way I noticed, that a lot of things, which seemed to me like big problems, are just obstacles I can easily obviate, if I see them in the right perspective.

Or in simple words: The path is the goal.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I was always attracted by the fact, that astronomy is one of the few sciences, that

doesn't contribute to wars,

doesn't polute the enviroment,

doesn't oppress people

doesn't reduce your freedom,

but instead

does show me, how precious life is,

does remind me, I'm responsible for my life,

does offer new discoveries that amaze me anew,

does show me, that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

So I give the SETI team a hand. Even if they don't find life beyond earth, they do at least offer people hope that we are more than just some mammals whose primary interests lie in killing each other.
