Personal background
Local to Southern California... Currently I am the Vice President of IT, for a company I've worked at for over 15 years.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Not Sure, but since the universe is so vast, there has to be something out there.

Possible benefits... Not sure, even if we did detect a signal, and could understand it. I don't believe we could reply to it with our current technologies. Dangers...? It could have an impact on certain religions.

Should we transmit a beacon...? Are we really ready as a planet, for someone to reply..?

Why do I run SETI@home...? Its probably the only thing that I'll be able to do regarding outer space. I've grown up watching sci fi shows, dreamed as to what it would be like to be in space. But thats all fantasy. So for now, I can get a piece of space one work unit at a time...
