Personal background
I'm an Information Technology student at RIT (www.rit.edu). I'm currently 20 years old. My hobbies include making a fool out of myself by trying to play golf with my friends and computers. More specifically, Systems Administration/Design and Networking. I've got an awesome girlfriend. We've been with eachother for about 2 years now, and we're still going strong.

I work at my school in two different departments. First in the "ETC" department videotaping distance learning classes, and I make the schedules up for when people work and whatnot. (http://distancelearning.rit.edu) Second, I work in the IT Networking/SysAdmin labs as a labbie. Basically, I fix things if they break, help fellow students with problems, and of course goof-off with whoever else is working at the time. :)
That's me in a nutshell.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Seti@home is a great project. I use it not only to benchmark my systems (which is a great use) but also because I believe that there is other live in this universe. There has to be. Otherwise, it just wouldn't make sense. So humanity has to come together and do things like this project to help us discover our "neighbors". There is a chance that we could discover a very "mean" culture in the universe, but I think a bigger chance exists of finding one more like us. We've evolved as a species to not be totally warlike, and I think it's a natural form of evolution. I would be more afraid of what humanity would do to the other lifeforms. Primarily because people are parranoid creatures, and very defensive and destructive by nature. If we think there is a remote chance that something will endanger our way of life, we will shun it out and do everything we can to eliminate it. I for one would be right in front waiting to greet the alien creatures though. There would be lots to learn from each other.

If we were to transmit, I don't know what we should send. But I do know it would have to be something that is common to the whole world.
