- I heard about SAH in 1998 from the Planetary Society Website. I tried to
get in on the beta test but it was all full up. I was finally notified in
May of 1999 that the project was open and by the time I got there 46687
other users had already signed up. I remember my first WU using VER. 1.00.
It took about 60 hours to complete on my lowly 233MHz PII machine. SAH has
come a long way since those first days. The Southern Search is in the works.
The BOINC beta test is in full swing and the project has had 4.6 million
users sign up for the project with about 600,000 active users at any given
time. It is an honor to be a part of this staggering accomplishment.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
- I find it difficult to believe that extraterrestrial life does NOT exist.
It's unfathomable to me that life in this vast universe can only be found on
this small speck that we call home. To assume we are the only species is
sheer arrogance. However, I am a skeptical believer. I still await
definitive proof. That's why I participate in the S@H project. I would like
to help find that proof. At The risk of wearing out the cliche, "I Want
To Believe". _____
- There are always dangers in meeting another "race", alien or
not, but if we are to evolve as a species, we cannot hide our heads in the
cosmological sand. The paradigm shift of discovering an alien species might
be the evolutionary jolt that we need. I say put up the
"brightest" beacon that we can, and beam it in as many directions
as we can._____
- What do I think about SETI@Home? Well, someone has to do it. I'm just glad
I'm part of it. _____
- Suggestions? Give special recognition to the users who only have one
computer yet dedicate 50% or more of its CPU time just to the SETI@Home
Client, and the SETI@Home project.
