Profile: Tim Harris

Personal background
We run a mid-sized WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) in the Hi-Desert region of Southern California, Victorville to be exact. I am 59 years old and along with my wife and two other employees we manage to stay busy bringing high quality, high speed Internet to our areas that are not yet on the fast side of the Digital Divide. We were the first local ISP in this area in 1996 and have modified our offerings to our customer base as the technology has evolved.

Being a small business owner we really don't have any hobbies as time generally doesn't allow for that but we are very spontaneous people and really enjoy spur of the moment decisions to go to someplace we like or seeing something we've wanted to see or just going somewhere and experiencing the joy of discovery!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I found out about this program several years ago when our SysOp was running the application on a couple of our servers that weren't doing much at the time, I then found a customer of ours who was doing the same thing about two years ago (2004) and I decided that since my computer at home was on all day long and I wasn't using it during that time, why not help out, so here we are!
