Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt that extraterrestrial life exits. Doubting it to me is equivalent of the middle age beliefs that there was no life beyond the open ocean. I trust that a form of life that would be able to connect with us would be more advanced than we are today and then hopefully more intelligent. That's why I would think that such a discovery would be a giant step for our humanity and potentially help resolve some of our older-than-times conflicts by showing all of us that there is more to life than what hurts us on this small planet: i.e. this discovery would be a good thing!
I think it souldn't be long before we run into first evidences of extraterrestrial life, somewhere between now and the next 100.000 years (which is pretty soon from a geological time frame...).
Although probabilities don't seem to be in favor of me getting a confirmation in my life span, I am happy to support the project with my home computing power.
Being new to the project, I don't see any immediate suggestions but will get back if any show up.
