Personal background
Age 33, I have three children Grace, Mary and John and a wife Shirlene.

I own a small IT Services and Consulting firm in St Paul Minnesota (USA) and spend most of my time with family or working.

IT Hobbies are Linux, Security, and SETI!

For relaxation I like to hunt, fish, hike or sit at a cafe sipping coffee reading a new Linux or Motorcycle magazine.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I love the SETI@home project but I don’t expect that it will likely discover extraterrestrial life, however anything is possible. I do think extraterrestrial life exists, I think that we will some day encounter this life in some form, however that day may be 100 or 500 years from now. The benefits and dangers are nil, as we will likely discover a signal that is 300 or 3000 years old the day we hear it.

We should transmit a beacon into space and it should read “we are all dead now, sorry”

I run the SETI@Home client on five computer systems most of the time, mostly for fun as I like the idea of using up unused CPU time. I also like to show people a Linux Server vs. Windows Server running SETI and how cool it is to have the Linux server serve-up website and files fast clean and the Windows server disheing-out pages slow as motor oil on a cold day. I also like that it’s a bit like a race, I love seeing my rank move up, and it’s FUN!
