Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Given the billions of known galaxies and the billions of stars in each, it is virtually impossible (IMHO) that life only exists on this one microscopic piece of rock. I think the current SETI programs (including SETI@home, of course) are a great first step toward finding other technologically capable life forms. I would like to see SETI taken more seriously by governments worldwide and funded at a level in keeping with the mission.

I support sending a continuous beacon to announce our arrival in the cosmic community. Contacting another civilization would do much to resolve philosophical questions that have puzzled humans for thousands of years - and also bring some much needed perspective to those who see humanity as the center of the universe.
