Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
(BOINC)

A version the day keeps the crunchers away.

SETI Classic was more fun but the basic idea behind BOINC is really good.

Unfortunately developement got out of hand and the bloated stuff that BOINC is now isn't so well done for a public DC platform. Version terror and featuritis make BOINC more and more unattractive. Instead of having a slender core client with several optional components, it became a quite microsoftish monster.

The only missing "improvement" would be a Java version (oerks)

(SETI)

I'm sure there are other civilisations out there, probably not really zillions but sure more than most churches want to ;-)

If we do not manage to solve our own problems, our civilisation might fail to survive long enough to make contact, considering the time a signal needs for the travel.

As much as I would love to find a signal, other projects have a higher priority for me now.

So good luck to all those who keep crunching SETI!
