Personal background
I turned 24 today (14.10.2001!!). I'm a female student in french litterature in a french university, not far away from the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, my native country.
Right now, I'm drinking a coke light while I'm wondering what more I could write about myself in here...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. yes, I believe ET-life exists. When I think about ET-life or the future of mankind, images from Bruce Sterling's Schismatrix automatically come into my mind. However, I'm quite rationnal (at least I try to be so most of the time), so I know that the future depicted in that novel is far from the truth.

2. I don't think humans have lots of interesting things to tell about them. So we better keep quiet and modest. Let's hope that if ETs one day find out about us, they will not be too scared or too disgusted by the things we have done or continue doing. (yes, you're right, I watched Star Trek a lot some years ago...)

3. in the beginning it was just for fun that I installed the SETI programm. I didn't trully believe that my computer could eventually find a message from ETs. However, later, I realised that there are in fact many people around the world running SETI, maybe not awaiting to find an ETs trace either, but at least they were trying. I found that SETI was a unique project on earth, uniting thousands of people, and I just wanted to be part of it.
