Personal background
I am 50 years old and have been a freelance programmer for almost my complete working life. I was always interested in science and physics. I came to computers in the early 1980 (Commodore PET) and couldn't get away since.
In my rare spare time I go rock climbing. I have climbed in Germany and Spain and hope to climb in other European countries as well.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The idea of sharing thousands of computers around the world to perform the enormous task of analysing the radio data is one of the best uses for computers I heared in a long time. So many computer just stand there doing nothing and wasting energy. I have been in so many diffrent offices and there are always some computers running and just waiting for their user. There are many other task to perform and we should achive a lot more if we all share our unused computer time.
