Personal background |
Hallo allerseits,
Beruf: EDV-Dozent
Hobbies: Alle Arten von Sport, DVD-Abende, Netzwerk-Sessions
Sonnige Grüße aus dem Ruhrgebiet
Andreas

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. Of course, but where? It is statistical impossible, that human kind is alone in universe. Travelling in space is to slow to take contact, we will have the contact by sending signals to other systems.
A danger could be, that another civilization could be seen as an enemy. Why should mankind think friendlier of aliens than of other human cultures?
2. How would mankind react, if we receive the signals of other planets? Religeous mass hysterie? And building up large instruments to answer them? Waiting over years and Decades or Centuries for an answer? Mankind should live in peace, then we can invite our alien friends. I'm not a pessimist at all, but the last years show, that we should solve OUR problems with priority.
3. To take part at a non-commercial scientifical project. I am interested in astronomy and sci-fi. But I would take part at a naval-project to investigate the oceans or at a project to examine our solar system, too.
Suggestion: Tell first to use the commandline-Version of seti@home. It runs 3-5x the speed of the screensaver. |
