Profile: Baker-Tech

Personal background
As a big fan of K.I.S.S. (not the music group. Well...ok the music group, too.),
I was born in Los Angeles, raised in San Francisco, and currently reside in the tiny hamlet of Selma. Ca. Located 15 miles south of picturesque downtown Fresno, Selma is best known for having a Pea Soup Anderson's (with the windmill) next to Hwy 99. It's not a Pea Soup Anderson's anymore, but that's another story.
I turn 40 shortly (or have already depending on when you are reading this).
My occupation is "Owner - Head Tech" of Baker-Tech, a small computer store and service center, located in the heart of old downtown Selma. The building I'm located in was built over 100 years ago. The number 559-896-NERD (of course), and the wbesite, www.baker-tech.com My business e-mail is headtech@baker-tech.com
Hobbies, anything else....
Trek fan (up until DS-9, that is), B-5 fan, former SG-1 fan. Former lifetime...I left the radio business after 15 years. I now do two dances a year. I'm the DJ at BayCon, the SF Bay Area's largest annual Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror convention (www.baycon.org) and affiliated with ConJose, the 60th World Science Fiction Convention (www.conjose.org). My business also incorporates my other two hobbies, sports-cards (y'know, the things that used to come with gum?) and Selma memorabilia.
That's it.
Peace, love and flowers.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Do I think ETI exists?
No offense meant, but duh. Would I really waste my precious computer resources for something that didn't exist. When and how? I'm just a lowly computer tech. I leave that stuff to you braniacs. I just hope it happens (first contact) before I die.
2. Should we transmit a beacon?
Sure. What to include? Not a clue. I did enjoy going thru the code that was sent with the last deep space probe. The steps were just so (sorry for the cliche) logical, it was like reading a symphony.
3. Why?
The govt. has cut back spending on MY kind of science (Alpha, the Shuttle, SETI, etc.). This is my way of doing what I can to help.
4. Suggestions?
Thanks for asking...as much as it pains me to say this, how about making a deal with MS, or AOL (IMHO, both evil to the core)to get prominent placement on the desktop (or even getting them to offer it as an additional program on their install disks)?
