Personal background
I am Gary J. Couse. I was born and raised in the Catskill Mountains of New York State where I lived on a dead end dirt road and a mountain Rainbow Trout stream was my back yard. My playground was the whole "Black Head" mountain where the Dear & Bear played with me. It was a peaceful and lonely childhood where my only friend lived 4 miles away. Only seeing him during school and long bike treks to go hay bailing during the Fall harvest. I lived a very secluded quiet life that allowed great times of contemplation and star gazing in the pristine pitch black non-smog affected clear country nights. I often hiked up the mountain for a whole weekend of star gazing and space dreaming during the pristine and crisp nights.

I have always had an extremely mechanical mind. Even before I set forth to self educate mechanical engineering and quantum theory I would contemplate space traveling to explore the world mentally that scholars were only than acknowledging existence. I contained the ability to look and any mechanical structure and see with in it as if I were seeing with x-ray vision. I could precisely see the functioning mechanics of all internal components and assess any failures prior to even knowing the exact mechanical structures names! Often amazing, (and frustrating), teachers as I excelled at all learning efforts and surpassed there capacity to teach me in a single seating of their efforts. Often turning the tables and teaching them aspects of their own fields they as yet hadn't mastered and I was just absorbing. Need I say I didn't find formal schooling challenging and taught myself at an accelerated pace at night by reading most all the books and periodicals our school and town Libraries held.

I was self educating via the now named internet when than it was nearly a network of higher education campuses interconnected to the Government. Where there yet wasn't any graphic pages and everything was in text form. I learned, than taught, my schools teachers how to surf the halls of higher education before HTML ma
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The very day that SETI was announced I started waiting for the moment I could own a fast enough of a computer and modem to connect to the Berkley network and download my first data unit. Back than you didn't simply go out and purchase a computer unless you had the funds to do so. I manually built my first 3 computers from a hodgepodge of disposed of parts donated to my efforts. My first complete computer was a partial kit I built for a discarded "Heath Kit" 8088 model someone failed to complete. It took me weeks to undo the damage they inflicted in there attempts to build that computer. Nonetheless, with it's mind boggling speed of the time and state of the art 32 bit text modem I set out self teaching computer theory at the same time Bill Gates was employed by IBM and developing his first version of Windows. Yes the world has come a long, long way in the last short 30 years. Tantamount to a baby learning to crawl to a sprinter running his first 4 minute mile! It was dizzying pace. I never managed to acquire any official college degrees for my walls that the whole world respects and expects to see hanging on my wall. But I have amassed the equal of mental knowledge to mind and forgotten more than I could ever remember. I liken the experience to the first hard drives that soon fan out of space as the whole world first started generating bits of data multiplying than to kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes and quickly terabytes and mega flops of data and intelligence. I have managed to do what most scientists seem to think there is a capability of the human mind to do. Amass more data of knowledge than the human mind can hold. Thus I have found my mind "Dumping" more insignificant chunks of data for more important ones. It is frustrating to remember, remembering things that I no longer contain! "But I use to know that" I find myself often saying today as I can't remember what yesterday was at the tip of my tough.

Today in my retirement in South Florida I proceed to self educate on a daily basis. Though I do take tim
