Personal background
Hi !
My Name is Michael, I am born in 1965 and one of my hobbies is riding my motorbike. The picture in fact shows the bike I have since summer 2001. It's a Yamaha Fazer 1000 (called FZ 1 in some countries) and the best bike I ever came across.

My other hobby is everything around computers. I have several computers, starting with a dual Pentium3 with 1.5 gigs of RAM all the way up to an Athlon XP2600 running at 2365 MHz at an FSB of 215 MHz, which indeed is incredibly fast.

Of course I have to mention, that I am member of the worlds best Seti@Home team, named Seti.Germany. You can find us here: http://www.setigermany.de
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am convinced, that there is life somewhere outside there. The chance is very high, that there are planets with the right conditions. Life might be totally different there and I am not sure, if there are intelligent life forms. We might or might not find them and I don't know, if S@H is the right approach. But at least we are trying. And that's much better than doing nothing. Of course there might be some kind of danger, if we ever find some intelligent live, but there is also a big chance in it. To be honest, I hope that we will not find anybody before mankind has learned to live with ourselves in peace. Looking back into history, whenever humans discovered a new place, they killed the native citicens or sold them as slaves. I wonder what they would do to the urban people, if we discovered a planet similar to earth. Humans might or might not send a special signal to outer space. As a matter of fact, we are sending out lots of signals everyday. A civilization, that might be able to reach us, will be able to detect us also. I joined S@H already in 1999 and I really like this project. What I hate is the lack of splitters in Berkeley. They should really find a soluion for it.

By the way, if anybody is able to find ET, then it will be a member of http://www.setigermany.de
