Personal background |
This profile combines the cpu power of Replica and Wejp. The fast Athlons guarantee many workunits per day, while the slow pentiums produce a huge cpu time.
Computers running in this profile:
Athlon XP 1800 (1534 MHz) 1gig DDR
Athlon 1400MHz 768MB SD-RAM Cl2 OC'ed 1333MHz
Duron 1200MHz 128MB SD-RAM - running sometimes
Duron 700MHz 448MB SD-RAM - running sometimes
AMD K6-300MHz 160MB SD-RAM OC'ed 266MHz
Pentium 133MHz 64MB PS/2
The two Pentium-class computers work as network routers to connect our local area networks to the internet. Of course that does not use much CPU time, so the CPUs would be idle most of the time. What a waste of CPU power! So, as a second task they are crunching SETI work units with the Linux command line SETI client 24 hours a day. Happy crunching!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
2003 AD: Climatic catastrophe, melting poles, cruel environmental pollution, ozone hole, kind-die... Is that a world we want to live in?
If that development continues our planet earth will no longer be a nice place for our children to live.
If SETI@home finds ET that could be a great chance to find a new habitat as a replacement for our destroyed planet. So we could live with ET in a peaceful coexistance.
The participation in SETI@home increases the chance in finding a planet similar to our planet earth.
We have two possibilities: Either we find a new replacement planet or we start reducing environmental pollution and think about alternative energy sources.
As we cannot expect SETI@home to find ET, we should stop destroying our environment and make the best of the current situation as the whole world all together. |
