Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
i think it would be egocentric of us to think we are the only intellagence in the vast universe. will we meet with another race from the stars? i don't think so because of the time and distances involved. will we discover that we are not alone? i think that if we don't keep looking we will not ever know, so this is worth a shot. the reason i jumped on with this program was not so much to find life out there but to be part in a experiment to see if people on this rock would be willing to use their PCs to help crunch the thousands of years worth of numbers that needed to be translated into usable data. i have just signed on to another site that is trying to use a simular program to find if our climate is heating or cooling. thanks to SETI there are many applications that we the common folk can help with for the good of all.
