Personal background |
I live in a cabin in the Wasatch Mountains (where the 2002 Olympics were held) and scratch out a living as a private investor. I have degrees from Caltech and the University of Utah in geophysics and instrumentation physics, respectively. I love skydiving (1,800 jumps to date), studying history, analyzing companies, river-rafting, backpacking, shooting, listening to classical music, watching independent cinema, cooking, and writing.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
My guess is that any extraterrestrial civilization that is significantly more technologically advanced than our own does not consist of naturally-evolved biological beings like us. ET is likely one of the following: a robot, a genetically-engineered biological super-being, or a hybrid bio-robot. Star Trek notwithstanding, I find it extremely unlikely that aliens will simply look like humans with funny foreheads.
I'm running SETI@home because I hate to see things go to waste, including computational capacity. I have a powerful desktop computer whose CPU was virtually idling most of the time until I joined SETI@home. I'm now putting it to good use, in an effort to search the heavens for something new and exciting. |
