I think that extraterrestrial life may exist, but is most likely not as evolved as we are, given that the age of the universe is anywhere near correct. If it truly took 1/2-1/3 of the age of the universe to create what we now enjoy, then the likelihood of there being a species more advanced than ours seems negligible.
However, it does seem likely that our understanding of the universe is flawed, and that is why I take part in this project.
SETI@home makes as much sense to pursue as any other any other scientific study. There are certainly more controversial, less far-reaching topics that receive considerably more funding. |
