Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
...I've always been taught that God was the creator of man, that he created the heavens and the earth, the sun and the moon and man, in his own image, it doesn't say that he put us all in one place, or that there is only one earth. I can't see the need for a universe as large as ours to support just one earth, on the other hand, if you take a look at the human body and really think about how amazingly complex it is, maybe we need the rest of the universe in order for this earth to exist. Why do we have a spleen? Why do we have two kidneys? If we were alone in this galaxy, would you want to be? If we weren't, would you wan't to be?

Should we transmit a beacon? sure, why not. What should be sent? How about a picture of a beautiful house sitting along a parkway, the caption can read "We drive in parkways, and park in driveways." Then, they will understand how far we've come, yet how far we have to go.

I run SETI@Home because I can process two Work-Unit's at a time in under 5 hours, browse the internet, read my email, instant message, and still not experience lag. >=)
