Profile: Big Mac

Personal background
I am a special education teacher working with severely emotionally disturbed youth on the rural Olympic Peninsula. I serve as a volunteer with the Clallam County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Posse. My hobbies range from devoting time to my two golden retrievers, hiking the Olympic Mountains, working on my Master's Degree, and reading to camping and traveling the U.S. with my husband. I am devoted to improving mental health services in our community and writing grants to insure that my students and their families are able to receive the best mental health services and education that can be provided.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
That life exists outside our planet is surely a reality. For our race to believe that we are the only intelligence in the universe would be not only egocentric and petty, but short-sighted and shallow. I truly hope that SETI is able to discover, in my lifetime, where life is beyond this Earth. I only wish I could go there.
