Personal background
I am a student at Brigham Young University studying Electrical Engineering. I enjoy messing with computers, flying large model rockets, singing, reading, scuba diving, and most everything in general. I was born and raised in Utah and enjoy living here. I plan on working for NASA after finishing my college career and I would love to fly to the moon or to Mars. I recently returned from serving a 2 year mission for my church in the Philippine Islands.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am a firm believer that extraterrestrial life exists. I belong to a church that teaches that God has other children living on other planets that he has created. I agree with this doctrine of my church because it comes from God and because it makes sense to my brain. I'm not sure if humans will ever make contact with extraterrestrials, but I believe that if they ever do we will find them to be much like ourselves, if they are intelligent. I think that the most interesting thing would be learning about an alien culture so that is what I would think we would want to tell them about if we were ever to make contact with them. I think that SETI@Home is a great idea and should be a precursor to greater efforts to find extraterrestrial life and that its methods should be employed in other ways to further human knowledge.
