Personal background
I was hatched August 10, 1946. Grew up in Connecticut. Spent some time in Mass. and Mich. Currently reside in Nebraska, with my wife of 3 three years.

Three grown children, two teachers, who live back in CT and an office worker in California. Our daughters have blessed us with grandchildren. One on the West Coast, one on the East Coast. I am employed as an accountant here in Nebraska.

In my spare time I enjoy fiddling with computers, reading (especially history) and classical music.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that ET exists. It would make sense that they are trying to find other life. The fastest way is probably through the transmission of electromagnetic radiation. The benfit of finding ET is expansion our knowledge. The dangers include what we will do with that knowledge. Humankind has a poor track record when faced with the opportunity of using new knowledge.

We should transmit a beacon for others to find. The information should include various kinds of music and a map.

I am not sure that SETI will be prodcutive. It scans such a narrow portion of the universe and then only for limited frequencies. But I simply enjoy being part of such a project whether it is successful or not. Seems to me we have to do something.
