Personal background
First time I heard about Seti@home during vacation in 2000 from my acquaintance. I saw on his computer a strange application drawing interesting 3D diagrams. I asked him, what is this? He told me what is going on. It's interested me, and I decide to became a Seti@home member. I registered on 28th of July 2000. I remember that the time of processing my first unit reached 72 hours. Now the time of processing my units amount about 22 hours.
I have always interests about extraterrestrial life. I think that, if there is no extraterrestrial life, then people won't talk about it. But there is too much convergent declarations, too much books written, too much TV programs about it, to say, that is not true. The best proof to extraterrestrial life existence is SETI. If there is no extraterrestrial life, then there is no sense to search for. But 3 millions SETI@home members means something.
I living in Kedzierzyn - Kozle, city in Poland. My year of birth is 1982, that's mean I'm 20. I iterests about computers, writing programs and electronics, sometimes psychology. I'm not alone in my fascination of extraterrestrial intelligence, both with my girlfriend (on picture with me) we believe that we are not alone in universe.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that extraterrestrial life really exist. In my humble opinion first symptoms was observed by humans about 1940. But it is not sure, beacuse there is places on earth where exists strange patterns created on ground many tousands years ago. I think it's contains witch extraterrestrial intelligence. If anytime we could had a contact with extraterrestrial life, then we could cooperate with them. But they might want to take possession of earth and make us as they slaves.
Should we transmit a beacon for others to find? I think that humas are not ready for closer contact with them. Sending a beacon in space might make them to visit our planet and meet with us. I think it might be an information like that "Tell us something more about you". The answer might be registered by SETI.
Why do I run SETI@home all the time? I like idea about using unused calculating power of home computer processors to do other operations. I could say that I lend something I won't use to use for something other. I've always interests about searching for extraterrestrial intelligence. And satisfaction that I could be a member of SETI makes me join SETI@home. I know people, who resign SETI after about one year beacuse they thinking that extraterrestrial life doesn't exist, then they didn't want to look for such one. I think that there is sense to look for such one and I want to stay in SETI@home.
