Personal background
Born in 1958 in Kota Bharu, Malaysia, the youngest son a teachers training college lecturer, i grew up as a curious boy always opening things apart.
I attended a technical institute for high school and then ended up working in the f&b field after training as a chef in international cuisine in adelaide australia.
I left that after 14 years in the field, and worked as a commercial kitchen designer for 4 years until I joined a company as building manager for the last 5 years. Now I am a building contractor here in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of malaysia.
I hope all our efforts helping SETI to achieve its objectives will be well spent once contact is made...

We are living in a turbulent time in this new year 2003. I pray that we find something out there to kick our global politicians into focusing on something other than war for power. i am hoping that mankind is humbled by the great wonders out there in the rest of the universe and start to focusing on deeper issues of the heart and soul, not of money and power.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I believe it. ET Life exists.
Yet I acknowledge there will be problems to solve once life is found. But as usual society will spend huge resources making laws and subsequently plugging loop holes (after the fact of course). No danger from the ET, only from ourselves. I see society acting in frightening ways once faced with adversity and fueled with the sensationalism of the media. I fear human ego will over ride all.

2. Once intellegient life is found, as i am sure it will, we would first have to spend life times just trying form a conversation with them over the same radio waves... So it is not important what ...

3. I am happy to share my computer processing power with SETI. I think the general project is excellent howeve, once having found life, I worry about our children and their children.
I fear that would be just a start of a hubbub to look at the stars and study et intelligence etc, while our own society goes to blazes. Sept 11th 2001.
then again what about the bombing of bagdad? pearl harbour? saigon?
our govenments have the power to destroy all we are building and we tend to distract ourselves with other things...
but go for-it, mankind, show that we can reconcile with all the wonderous things God gave us...
good luck
