Personal background
I am a dumpy, elderly lady, (a silver surfer) living in England. (At least that was where I thought I lived until getting onto the internet where my country has to be "United Kingdom"). I love being a great aunt to seven children- its a great relationship!

Retired longer ago than I care to recall I have enjoyed life immensely ever since. My interests are mainly to do with art; painting, drawing, and recently sculpture. That’s great fun, - "playschool for oldies"! So far it is, in fact, scraping away at a small cast block of plaster, or a large wax candle, -- strangely satisfying.

I was well into my sixties when I first had a computer and became addicted at once. How challenging it was when a problem arose--I was utterly absorbed until it was solved. Being one to "try this, lets see what happens" my computer "guru" was forever exclaiming, "what’s she done now?" I mean to try to get to grips with graphic programmes but seem to prefer playing games. I am a Sims addict and love looking for and making clothes for my Sims. Recent additions to the family have been Star Trek and Star Wars characters.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a child I used to write "The World", "The Universe," at the end of my address as we all do. Ever since I have wondered from time to time what and who may be out there. Is there someone for whom "The Earth, Milky Way Galaxy", would have some meaning? Carl Sagan gave the Royal Institution Christmas lectures for children one year, which I saw on television. In spite of understanding very little of what he had to say I was very impressed by his energy and enthusiasm for his subject. So when I heard about Seti@home and his name in connection with it, I was very interested. Surely the probability has to be that there are E.T’s out there. It would be no more fantastic than most of what we are already told about the universe. Whether or not we will make contact is perhaps another matter.

The most amazing thing about Seti is I think the co-operation shown by people from all over the world. I am quite moved to think that I am one of three million people (or is it now four million) who are running Seti. People of all colours and creeds, umpteen different languages, and from all over the globe. If only mankind would cooperate about other matters as successfully.
