| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1) Does life exist? Yup, haven't you seen Men In Black?
2) Should humans xmit? Nope, there's too great a chance that the aliens will be hostile. Only when we have colonized a few neighboring planets/worlds/systems should we seek out other life actively. At least then all our eggs won't be in one basket. 3) Why run SETI? Because I leave my 'puter on all the time anyways, so I can either have it make colorful lines in its free time or crunch some numerals for the SETI folks... |
