Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. () I believe in extraterrestrial live, because the chance for the beginnig of life is not really great but there are so many systems in our universe most of them we haven't already discovered which are similar to our solar system, that there must be any life.
2. (should we send beacons) Yes, of course. First we should send something very simple to discover like very powerfull peaks with very sharp edges. A few years later it might has sense to transmit something we think we would also be able to understand if we receive it. Anything complex would be senseless.
3. I joined the SETI@home-Project, because my Debian-Linux-Server had nearly nothing to do ;-) So I installed the SETI-Software, now it is under heavy load. My suggestion is, that there is an ability to demonize the process and to easily log the output.
