Personal background |
It looks like I have something of the typical SETI enthusiast. Working as a software developer, I enjoy watching Star Trek, reading Arthur C. Clarke or any other SF. My interest in science and space dates back to my earliest memories, so one of my happy days was a visit to Kennedy Space Center on my birthday where I could watch a rocket launch. That was especially lucky because the launch was scheduled for the day before and delayed for bad weather.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I place myself between a skeptic and a non-believer. The general opinion and lack of evidence so far sometimes make it hard to think of aliens as an undiscovered fact. But then again, it might only be the unimaginable consequences, the impact on human societies and philosophy that fool me into thinking I'm not a believer...
Yes, we should make any reasonable effort to answer the question "Is anyone out there?", including radio transmissions sent out into space. Perhaps we should wait until we can create stronger signals, but on the other side I want the question answered within my lifetime.
Meanwhile I lean back and watch the progress, being happy to help a bit and playing the lottery of finding a signal on my own PC. |
