Personal background
I am in the U.S. Air Force currently stationed at Incirlik AB Turkey. I have been participating in the SETI project for a little over a year now. My friend Sammy and I started this group so we and our other good friends would have a good reason to keep in touch. Over time it has become a bit of a compatition between us to see who can send more data packets and keep the smallest average processing time, (he's winning now). Well good hunting and all that. Have a great Air Force day.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe Other than human life has to exist somewhere. If there isn't any other life out there intelligent or not it would seem an extreme waste of such a vast space. We can only speculate on whether it would be good or bad untill something is found untill then expect the worst and hope for the best. If there is something out there looking into space like we are with SETI, I think they will eventually notice that if not a specific beam sent for them to notice. My friends and I started this to keep in touch but now we see who gets the highest scores if any. The only suggestion I have is to do star maps for groups so they can see just where thier data was actually from. I would suggest writing it into the program for thier computers to look at so it wouldn't tie up those at berkeley.
