Profile: Jarhead (Scott Hill)

Personal background
Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, spent 18 years there. Moved to Florida to follow the Space Shuttle program, my mother works at the Kennedy Space Center. I have shaken the hands of many astronauts, and even several of the astronauts who lost their lives onboard the Challenger in 1986, mission 51-L.

I Joined the Marine Corps in 1992, was trained to be an Arabic linguist, got married in August of 1992, have two boys, both interested in Science.

I left the Marines in September of 2000 persuing my career as an IT Professional, working first at Microsoft, and then moving on to work for the Government once again as a contractor this time, with Booz\|Allen\|Hamilton.

I have always been infatuated with space travel and the possibility of ET life, but at the same time, it frustrates me with how slow we are at discovering our own planetary system/galaxy and taking our sweet time in planned visitations to other planets.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The principle behind SETI is great, for radiowaves are emitted from from more than just radios, and if we were ever to make first contact, it would definitely be from their findings. We should definitely trasmit a beacon, sending samples of all known languages, perhaps digital images, or directions to Earth! I run SETI for I feel it is my civic duty, and I know that the program is underfunded. ET definitely exists, we just have to find them, or help them find us first.

Thanks for doing your part!
