There must be other life forms. I've seen them! (No wait, that was just my wife coming in . . . Ouch! ouch! OUCH! Sorry, I've got to go!)
All kidding aside, I think the seti project is wonderful. I've been an avid science fiction fan for many years and I think that is mostly because of how exciting the possibilities are.
The seti project thrills me on both a programming level and even more deeply on a human level.
