Personal background
I was born on the 1st November 1950 and live in Bootle, near Liverpool England.
In 1966 I suffered severe injury from a traffic accident, a consequence of which was that I was bed ridden for 6 months, for repair and recupperation. Luckilly enough this was the same time as "Star Trek" began, consequently, I have since been a fan of Space and SciFi, I am a paid up member of the "Star Trek" & "Stargate" fanclubs and am in contact with various fans around the world via the internet. I am now an avid "Astronomer" with my new Meade telescope, which was a gift from my former colleagues when I was made redundant and took early retirement and run the "Starry Night" software package on my computer, which allows me to control the telescope remotely. I am also registerred with various "NASA" and "ESA" websites and closely follow the numerous missions, watching the various launches via webcast. I have also been running the "SETI" & "Climate Prediction" programmes 24/7, since the begining of 2004, when I bought my first home PC and I am ever hopeful of finding a viable signal indicator.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run "SETI@home" because I think it a worthwhile "enterprise".
I also think about the possibility that we may have "missed our chance" because we have only had the technology relatively recently.
