Profile: Daikaiju

Personal background
Daikaiju (die’-kie’-joo) n. 1. A compound word that translates to ‘giant monster’ formed by the Japanese words, ‘dai’ meaning great or giant and ‘kaiju’ meaning monster or mysterious beast. 2. An independent band of operatives that combine their unique talents to create high-energy, instrumental 'giant monster' music.

Daikaiju was formed in the winter of 1999 and is currently based in Huntsville, Alabama. The band consists of four enigmatic characters clad in kabuki-noh masks-- the Secret Asian Man and Dymaxion Lee on guitars, Brain Conflict on bass guitar, and E on drums. Together, they create a brand of experimental rock that seamlessly incorporates a wide variety of musical styles including surf, punk, ska, reggae, rockabilly, progressive, and psychedelic rock.

The music of Daikaiju is the soundtrack of the greatest monster movie never made. Compelling melodies, hard-hitting riffs and shifting dynamics fuse together to create songs that immerse the listener in a strange universe of giant monsters, super spies, mad scientists, martial artists, and alien invasions.
