Personal background |
I have a number of hobbies, but my favorite is raising Bonsai which I have been doing for 23 years. I am the proud owner of over 100 plants, with more than three-quarters being raised and coddled from seeds. The two oldest being a Madagascar Palm and a False Aralia both 23 years old.
I also fence, practice Gatka (traditional Sikh martial art), and spend entirely too much time on my computer.
Well, that's enough about me for now! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Ever since I was first able to fathom the wonders of the universe, I believed there had to be some other form of life out there besides us. When and how "humans" will discover other life forms is beyond my knowledge. The way our world has been going lately, I do not know if extraterrestrials will benefit much from us, but perhaps we may learn something beneficial from them.
Yes, I think we should be sending beacons into deep space to let our presence be known. Information sent should include the earth's atmosphere, geography and a pictorial history of civilization.
Coming in at the tail end of Phase 1, I must admit I started running SETI@home to help Team Starfire reach their goal of 5 in 4, because I can never let a good battle pass me by! However, now that I am learning more about the entire SETI project, I am sorry I did not join sooner. It is simply amazing.
