Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
Nowadays computers are so effective that normal office/work use ie. word processing and picture editing uses only small amount of CPU capacity of common PC. During daytime and espcecially during nigthtime there is huge amount processor time available to do something else than running an ordinary screen saver.
Seti@home is an excellent project for using this enourmous processor capacity and Internet to usefull purpose but unfortunately odds for finding something interesting are low.

aThoughts about ETI
For transmitting our signal, my opinion is that we have been transmitting radio signals since the discovering radio apparatus in nineteenth century. I think that these signals have already travelled guite far in the universe.
However, I am cautious for such a efforts for sending highenergy radiosignals purpously to space. Reason for that is a simple evolutionary fact that even in our homeplanet usually stronger ones have conguired weaker ones and I'd like not be among these weaker ones. It could be a good strategy/tactics for some alienrace to look for such signals that have been send with such a undevelopped technology that they certainly know cannot threaten possible attacker to source planet.
However, in the universal timescale using radiosignals for communicationing is most propably limited in such a short period of time in the evolution of intelligence that the odds for finding a civilization in the universe based on radiosignals they have emitted/send are virtually nonexistent, but who knows...
