Profile: Robert Kinkead

Personal background
Hi, my name is Robert Kinkead (pronounced Kincaid) I am 54 years old, and have been interested in science and space since I was a child.aI live in southern California, and like to play RPGs when I am not working on some project.aaI found out about the Seti@home project just about one and a half years ago and have been processing results for almost that long.aaI have studied some of Dr. Sagan's work, was a member of the Planetary Society for several years, and try to keep up to date on what is going on with NASA and the space program.aaI have worked with computers for the past ten years and from 1996 until now I have free-lanced as a computer consultant.aaI enjoy working with computers and trying new things with them.aaThe current computer that Seti is running on is an AMD Athlon XP 1800 with 256KB L2 Cashe and 512 MB of ram.a
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have to think there is other inteligent life out there somewhere all we have to do is to keep looking. We have covered a VERY small area of the possible universe and I feel that if we keep looking we will be rewarded with success.aaI think that we will find some other life out there but nothing meaningful will come in our lifetime because of the vast distances involved. it may take several generations to establish a meaningful correspondence with whom or whatever inteligence we find.aaI run SETI@home to help with the search. We need more people who are willing to help.
