Personal background
Hy folks! Im a 21 y/o pilot from Brasil. Actualy, flying is my hobby, since I work with computers. Im a system admin at a isp called Matrix. I came accros the SETI@home software some 3 years ago, while searching for LCARS software, since im a big fan os Star Trek (if you are too, you know what im talking about, and if youre not a star trek fan you dont exist, since everyone is a star trek fan :-)). At the time a had a very slow computer (P166 32RAM). Today I have a AMD Athlon 800 that runs the soft 24/7. I hope we can determine if theres really life out there (wich i believe is true).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
YEP, the little green guys are out there. But theyre not evil like the romulans or kind like the vulcans... I think theyre human! Of course theyre not HUMAN HUMAN :-), but they probably lead theyr lifes like we do. Hoping for the best, making mistakes, having friends and all... Should we transmit a beacon for other cultures? Arent we doing it already? Our tv and radio broadcast are out there, for everyone to catch. Even then, i think we should transmit a special beacon with the same caracteristics of the signals we are now looking for. To me, listening to these transmitions is something like meeting someone new and hoping the reach theyr hands out for a hand shake, even tough were not doing the same thing. See ya everyone!
