Personal background |
I'm a 34 year old guy from Germany, who is interested in all astronomical things. My occupation is the IT, where I work as a system engineer.
In my spare time I spend my time with my family or with a good computer game.
On the other side I like it to drink a glass of an excellent red wine and to discuss about it with a good friend. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I'm convinced that extraterrestrial life exists. I my opinion it's very conceited to think that we are alone in the whole universe with all its billions of stars and planets.
As a seti@home member I certainly hope that we discover an extraterrestrial signal one day, but with all the lightyears between the different stars, I think it could take a long time.
But I'm sure, one day we will discover them!
If we finally find an extraterrestrial species, I don't think that there where any dangers or benefits caused by them, because of the great distance between our homeworlds. Because of this, I don't think that there is any possibility to travel to their planet or vice versa as well. Perhaps (hopefully ;-) anytime anybody proved that the lightspeed isn't that absolut speed maximum, so that such journeys would be possible.
My PC runs seti@home because I believe in extraterrestrial life and want to do something for its discovery. Also it's switched on all the time and the processor should do something useful in its spare time ;-) |
