| I am a 37yr old mother of three wonderful sons and wife to a wonderful husband who is ten years my junior. I am a lover of Science Fiction and Fantasy of all genre, collector of comic books, lover of all animals, and artist. | Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I agree with a statement made in the movie "Contact" when she/her father said, "if there isn't other life out there, then it sure is a big waste of space." Since I have been a Star Trek fan sense the 60's it is impossible for me to believe that there isn't other intelligent life out there.
I believe that if we do purposely send a signal out into space in an attempt to contact other lifeforms that it should be in the form of some kind of mathematical contexted. Again, as the movie, "Contact" stated, math is the only true universal language.
As long as SETI is civilian owned and operated I will continue to support it's purpose for as long as I am able. As soon as the U.S. government decides to get involved all hell will break loose. As a U.S. Navy offspring and ex-Navy wife, I am very loyal to our government, but I also know and understand the dangers inherent in military involvement in what is only science. |
