Personal background
QA Manager for Distribution Center. SCI FI junkie. I grew up with James T. Kirk, the Enterprise and all that Star Trek stuff along with the Apollo missions. This is a great experiment and a wonderful past time. It's amazing to scroll through the User pages and see how many crunchers are out there. Eventually one of us will find the proverbial "needle in the cosmic haystack".
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I believe that Extraterrestrial Intelligence exists. Life is too exciting and filled with too much variation for there not to be other forms of life out there.

We will find them when it is our time and we are ready to take that leap upwards.

Benefits: everything ever shown in a good SCI FI movie, i.e. warp drives, supercomputers on a data crystal, medical mysteries solved etc.

Dangers: our childish and immature nature of jealousy, greed, envy, and prejudice coupled with more powerful means to destroy each other.

Yes, transmit data similar to what was sent on the Voyager missions.

I started running SETI to see how "fast and powerful" my laptop was compared to Zarusman's under his sign on. Then I got hooked on the excitement and created my own account. Now, I'm trying to figure out how many additional PCs I need to catch "Zman".

Keep the project going and keep improving the website ( like this ). It's awsome.

Semper Fi,
Vanman
