Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I hope that if there is some kind of extraterrestrial life it will be peacefull towards us, and it will not be so alien that we can not communicate with it.
My greatest fear on this subject is that any species that developes technology will be rather agressive (like us) and if more advanced that us, might whipe us out if they ever find us.
As we have found nothing with SETI sofar, it could very well be that we do not have Klingon or Vulcan neighbours, and it might take a long time before (if ever) we discover the only (?) other intelligent species in this galaxy.
I think intelligent lifeforms could be much rarer as most people hope.
Then again If we ever find something real with SETI it would maybe be the biggest thing we could ever discover. In my view it would somehow be the pincacle of human reseach and developement.
