Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I will tell you a story written by a mexican journalist, Mr. Armando Fuentes-Aguirre "Caton"; That man was one of those who thinks a lot, by consequence he does not believe in anything. That other man feel a lot, so he believed in everything. One day they were talking about the universe.....
Do you believe in the existence of beings in other Galaxies? - asked the not believer.
Naturally they exist - answered the other -. It is absurd to think that among countless millions of heavenly bodies that exist in the cosmos, only one has had the opportunity to generate conditions for life.
So... If there are other beeings in the universe - said the skeptic -, why they haven´t comunicated with us?.
The other guy took the newspaper in his hands and opened it in front of his friend:
Earth, air and sea polution; city violence; insane acts of terrorism; deadly diseases; hunger; war.... Will you comunicate with them? - he asked. ---------------- Nice history, isn´t it? It´s going to be hard to contact, but we have to keep trying.
