Personal background |
i'm a 23 year old student from munich, germany. my reasons for running seti@home are:
1. i like the idea of establishing a scientific network and put together the power of thousands personal computers.
2. i liked the graphical client (now i'm running the command line version because of its better speed).
3. sure, it would be fine to find some aliens out in space, but this is not my main reason to run seti@home.
perhaps it is possible to discover other life in space than ours. this would be great for the whole mankind, but i don't think it will happen the next decades... |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
just in case we discovered extraterrestrial life, what would it mean for us?
- the first question would be: is this kind of life friendly or not?
if not we'll have one problem more than we already have on earth. if they're friendly, we will probably find a solution on some of our problems...
- second question: in wich state of development are they?
will we learn from them or will we have to "teach" them?
- last question: when will we find them?
nobody knows... and nobody can say when it would be a good time to find them.
but, at least, we all help to make it possible as soon at it is possible. |
