Personal background
I'm a 44yr old male from San Diego. Married 24years(over half my life) to the most wonderful woman in the world.
I work for a rendering company. We turn cows into things like make-up, soap and asphalt...just to name a few.
I start work at midnight and listen to alot of Art Bell, and heard about Seti@home from there. About a year ago I bought a computer (450M), downloaded the program and now upgraded to 2.8gig and letting it run 24/7. I have 520 units now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I do believe in other life out there, but it's hard to get to know someone when you, instead of shaking hands and saying "hello", you pull out the gun and start shooting and chasing them.

If we transmit a message it should be simple, "we are here. Scotty, raise your shields, we scare easy."

I run Seti because I would like to see life on distant planets discoverd while I'm alive. Also to annoy the wife. She can't see past our own planet. I also think alot of religious folks would have to re-evaluate their views, on a great number of things.

like they said in the movie, if there's not life out there, it sure would be a terrible waste.

billions upon billions....
