Personal background
Me

Girlfriend, guitar, computers, music, school, newsgroups, games, and the endless pursuit of knowledge.

I've always been into computers, but I don't know if they're right for me to work in. I'm an information and computer science major right now but I am attracted to physics, astronomy, and psychology as well. There are just too many things to learn about and I'm too lazy to take them all on at once. :/

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the chances of some life existing somewhere are significant, however by the time electromagnetic radiation from those planets hits the Earth, it's millions of years past. An alien civilization with the capacity to emit radio signals would have had to existed far prior to our own measely human race. I guess it's about not wasting CPU cycles; I was on distributed.net before I decided to form the alt.2600 team on SETI@home. My computer wastes so many cycles and I don't pay the electricity bill that I might as well contribute to some program or another.
