Personal background |
It's hard to believe, but I've been a computer professional for 22 years. I'm 44, married for 18 years and we have 2 great, grade-school kids. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I doubt that E.T. life exists, but just as Formula 1 racing brings improvements to our personal vehicles, Seti@home will urge evolution of the way we compute. Serendipity Happens.
I'm not a big sci-fi fan. It's just that our computers are amazingly powerful and they're consuming electricity anyway. Computers should be OFF when they're not actually performing work. That's not practical for certain environments, so we may as well maximize the return on electricity cost and depreciation. I'm a big fan of the concept of distributed processing. Seti@home is the shining example. |
