Personal background
I live in the small southern WEST VIRGINIA area known as COOL RIDGE which is about 1.5 hours away from the GREENBANK Observatory.

I have always have an interest in space and like most that are, dreamed of going into space. But since I am stuck on the ground a just studied the detailed workings of the space program, watch the stars and enjoy myself while doing it.

I am 45 years old.

I am in IT SUPPORT with the CITY OF BECKLEY in Southern West Virginia.

Among other things I like anything dealing with space and technology, rockhounding, geocaching, photography, classic cars and jewelry making.

I once sold a large rough garnet to FRANK DRAKE, the father of SETI.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In my opinion, SETI is one of the most important yet under funded programs today.

I live not too far from the NRAO at Greenbank, WV and am truely saddend by the lack of use that the telescopes get.

There are so many things that could be done with them and it is disgusting to see them all sitting there unused.

Seti@home is GREAT!! It gives me a chance to participate in the search.

There is always a nagging thought in the back of my mind asking "Am I really helping to further the search with this or is it just wasting time?". But even the slimmest of chances to help are better than none. I hope that someday we DO indeed find a signal from another world. I just hope that SETI will have the money it needs to accomplish this goal.
