I've been interested in space in general for as long as I can remember (my earliest memory is a lunar landing shown on TV).
When I heard that about the SETI@home project on Tomorrows World (UK science/inventions TV show) I had to download the scren saver and help in the search. Unfortunatly I had to wait several painful months before the software was made available to the general public.

I was saddened to here of the death of Roelof J. Engelbrecht, the creator of 'SETI Spy' and in his memory I have now (for the first time ever) joined the 'Honor Guard In Memoriam' team.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is there life out there? Yes I think there is. I also think there is almost no chance of us finding it however if we don't look we have even less chance.

Why do I participate? I believe the only thing that makes us special on the planet is our ability to learn and advance the bounds of our knowledge. If in any small way I can help to do this then I have served some purpose.

Should we transmit a beacon for others to find? I'm on the fence with this one, On one had it would be great to here from another race but there is always the slight chance that that race could be hostile.

If we do find intelligent life out there I'd love to see what the religions of our world would make of it.
