Personal background

Helloooo, I'm a 21-years-old physics student from Germany.. Ever since I saw the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk for the fist time i loved science. Sounds silly, but my passion for science "snowballed" from that point.. I'm mailny interested in phyiscs, but chemistry and biology are in no way less exciting.

Since I am lucky to be able to combine my passion with my studies I can spend my free time with the things I love most (besides of science of course) .. which would be music, friends and computer science. My taste in music is very wide-spread, from alternative rock to sould music...
OK, i'll stop boring you now...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does extraterrestrial life exist? I am sure it does. It is time to give up the human narzism and to not just start thinking globally but universally! Excuse the bad English .. from my POV the speed of human development has often been decreased by politics and ignorance. I see the Seti@home project as a step into the right direction.. why not work together and use existing resources to *maybe* find something new and unexplored.. well as you know that's what Seti@home is doing. The internet is growing faster and faster and one day resource sharing projects like Seti@home will be everywhere..

Back to the point.. the probability of discovering an ALIEN signal via SETI is, unfortunately, very low.. but does it hurt to try? I don't think so, 'cause companies and lots of people at home support this idea. And it's a chance for everyone to take part in the exploration of this universe.

I hope humankind will find evidence for ALIEN life forms soon... whether there is a way to properly communicate with them is to be discussed.. most people wouldn't want to chat with a friend who has a ping time reply of several million years...

If we discover ALIEN life forms it would change the way of thinking for most people .. yet alone the thought of "we are not alone"..
The impact of such a discovery to politics, religion etc., the possibility of actually meeting those life forms (if we find intelligent EBE's .. which SETI is searching for) and all the other things that would change our world.. well.. I leave it to science fiction authors to discuss that subject for now :o)
